In May 2009, we started a temporary appraisal drilling and testing programme at our existing Wellsite in Albury Park. This will involve us drilling up to two wells down into the identified strata and then monitoring the rock properties and the outflow of gas that we believe may be there. Site preparation commenced early May 2009, and the main appraisal drilling work will be complete by the end of 2009.
We are very conscious of the need to communicate with the local community and are participating in a regular working group with Albury Parish Council throughout the temporary appraisal drilling and testing programme. We also produced a community leaflet which carried detailed information about the appraisal drilling and testing programme and held an evening community briefing at Albury Hall on 27th April 2009. You can download a copy of the leaflet here. You can also check progress here.
While we have planning permission for the temporary appraisal drilling and testing, we have yet to submit the various applications that would be necessary to progress a gas storage project. The information we obtain from the appraisal drilling and testing will enhance the information we already have and we will continue to liaise with surrounding Parish Councils regarding a gas storage project.
